Shot Map
A pitch plot of shots, often sized or coloured by outcome or xG.
Definition
A shot map places each attempt on the pitch. It shows where shots clustered, how many there were, and sometimes their outcome or xG. It is a spatial summary of finishing chances. It is not a full tactical film.
Read volume, quality, and location together. Equal dots do not mean equal chance quality unless the map encodes xG or a similar measure. Ten low-xG shots from distance are not the same as three high-xG chances near goal.
Caution
Do not invent formation stories the map cannot prove. Pair it with video and a clear question before making strong claims.
