Field Tilt

A territorial pressure marker, often based on final-third touches or passes.

Definition

A team with more final-third touches may be pinning the opponent back. Field Tilt estimates which team spends more time, or completes more actions, in the attacking third. Common versions use final-third touch share, final-third pass share, or related territorial ratios.

Higher tilt usually means more sustained presence near the opponent's box. It does not automatically mean more goals. It is not the same as whole-pitch possession share. StarkPitch Match Analysis pages do not currently print a Field Tilt number. Use Progressive Pass maps, Average Positions / Heatmap, and the xG Timeline as open-data cousins. If you compute tilt yourself, state the construction.

Caution

Do not treat Field Tilt as a moral ranking. It is not proof of shot quality or a substitute for xG. Pair territory with the Shot Map and match state. Do not invent a tilt percentage this site does not display.
