Progressive passes help separate territory-gaining circulation from sterile possession. Exact thresholds vary; StarkPitch Match Lab maps currently use the football-ai rendering rule of roughly twelve metres of progress or more.
Analysts often report both raw progressive counts and progressive share (progressive passes as a percentage of completed passes).
