Half-space
The inside-left or inside-right corridor, useful as a pitch zone rather than a philosophy.
Definition
In a simple pitch division, half-spaces sit between the centre and touchline channels. Naming the zone helps describe Progressive Pass end points, Shot Map clusters, and Pass Network hubs. Occupying a half-space is not the same as creating a high-xG chance.
Event coordinates can show whether progression and shots cluster in those inside channels. Average Positions can hint that a midfielder's on-ball actions sit inside a full-back. None of that proves a permanent half-space identity. Substitutions and match state move the averages.
Caution
Common misread: treating half-space occupation as modern, superior, or proof of control. If progression there never becomes a shot, write territorial occupation. Do not invent a school of thought.
